It is great to hear you all.farmers markets are too expensive, they had 30-35$ chickens a few weeks ago in oakland. i'm sure the bird was nice, and had a happy life but fuck that. I can go to mi pueblo and get maybe 6 chickens for that. On a roast chicken you can tell, but not in chicken and dumplings, or fried chicken.Your place (nopa) is doing well because you sell great food at fair prices. I’ve eat there about twice a month, and I’m coming from Oakland. The podcast was awesome, even without the dick jokes. Maybe gimmick up before handPs does the podcast seem shhh quiet to anyone else?
great podcast...i work in a "progressive" sort of restaurant and we are really feeling the impact of this economic downturn...as you guys mentioned people are really starting to weigh their options when it comes to the food department and few are finding it justifiable to drop so much money for that kind of food...and of course when youre not getting customers its not very business saavy to have idle cooks kicking around so our hours are taking a huge hit as well..ah well the food is still fun to make...keep the podcasts coming!
Well done. I really didn't need that half hour anyway, no sweat. I see a lot of potential here, and no need to be rigid in format. Podcasts in the wild, interview podcasts, podcasts with Maker's Mark... Eventually they can be archived and released posthumously as a five disc set.
what up holmes, ive been reading this blog since i stumbled upon it about 6 monthes ago and this podcast was so great it compelled me to take a minute and get a google account so i could tell youse guys. Im an out of work cook so the subject of economy hit home. yeah, fuck 4 dollar organic pomegranites. feels good to here other cooks talk about the exact same shit we talk about in charlotte. looking forward to the Culinary school episode because im just 19 and im going to the French Culinary in Manhatten here shortly. You fuckers are funny man, and you can tell you had to keep it in.the escarole and ramen and Coreys kick rocks and chase asphalt bit were great. that should be you guys send off. I laughed my ass off at the sticker trick in the produce section; I have to say I'm guilty of the same at the supermarket... it's especially easy to pull off in the self-checkout. Good to ring out shit like avocados at a buck fifty a pop as bananas, etc. I'm no professional cook, rather a college student, so our budgets aren't too dissimilar, and I realized that really, food and drink are the only things that I spend money on beyond rent/heat/etc., and I don't feel guilty spending $3.89/lb on a 6 lb berkshire shoulder instead of $1.59 on the other white meat at Rainbow because I know it'll provide me with an entire day of entertainment that will feed me and a few friends and give me a couple lbs of leftovers I can use in a variety of dishes.
your podcast is MY food network, forget those panty sniffers. Corey needs to be a little more unrated! where's it at? Amy was off the charts great. The woman I was looking for (before I met my wife). kick ass work guys! keep this stuff up!
